Our History

The Delta Iota chapter of Delta Delta Delta has been a cornerstone of Greek life at the University of Arkansas since it was established on November 14, 1913. As the fourth sorority founded on "The Hill," it has grown into one of the largest and most influential Tri Delta chapters in the nation, even celebrating its centennial in 2013 with the dedication of a commemorative marker at its home on West Maple Street. The chapter is renowned for its philanthropic leadership, consistently raising record-breaking funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Over its long history, Delta Iota has produced several distinguished alumnae, most notably Donna Axum, who was crowned Miss America in 1964, further cementing the chapter's legacy of excellence and "strong and womanly character" within the Razorback community.

Mission

The mission of the Delta Iota chapter at the University of Arkansas is centered on empowering women to "lead bravely, act boldly, and use their voices to change the world for the better." This mission is put into action through their unwavering commitment to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, where they lead the Greek community in philanthropic efforts to ensure no family ever receives a bill for treatment or care.
