Happy Tuesday, ladies! Since we are approaching the middle of summer break, we wanted to give you a little run-down of all things Recruitment. This way, you have time to find everything you might need for the week! Wondering what to wear, what to pack in your rush bag or just wanting some advice? Don't worry, we will answer all of your questions here! Rush week will be here before you know it and we are probably more excited than you are!
What to Wear:
First things first, we want to make it abundantly clear that your outfit is not what houses are looking at during the recruitment process. We all want you to be yourself and feel confident. It's important that you are comfortable in your own shoes (pun intended)! These lookbooks are designed for inspiration. Each house truly wants to get to know you for you, so don't put too much pressure on your outfit. If you are someone who has no idea what the rush process looks like, here is a little guide to point you in the right direction!
We know there have been so many Pinterest boards, TikToks, and even general guides explaining what to wear for each round of recruitment. You have probably heard it all and more, but that doesn't mean that you don't want to see more options!
Every day, you will wear a different shirt, given to you by Arkansas Panhellenic. This makes shopping easy, you just need to get a few skirts and shorts for the week! Quick tip- find skirts that you can match with any color because you don't know what the shirts will look like until the beginning of the week!
As for shoes, wear what you are confident in! If you are more of a sneakers girl, wear your favorite sneakers! If you want to dress up your outfit a little bit, you are more than welcome to wear heels.
Preference Round is the last day of formal recruitment. In this round, most wear a semi-formal dress and heels. You can make it as fun or as professional as you want.
During each round of recruitment, we want you to be yourself and feel confident. Wear what you want! Here's a little inspo board if you are needing to visualize some options.

The Necessities for your Rush Bag:
Panhellenic will give you a clear bag to use throughout the week, so you don't have to worry about bringing one. These are a few things that we would consider essential for rush week.
Definitely bring an extra pair of shoes to use when you are walking from house to house. If you decide to wear heels to your parties, you definitely want to wear comfortable shoes walking up and down Maple Street!
Bringing a few of your makeup products to touch up between parties is a lifesaver! Plus, you can never go wrong with having a hairbrush and extra hair ties. After all, it is August in Arkansas, so it is pretty hot!
Speaking of it being hot, we always suggest having a portable fan and a water bottle handy. You might just have two parties back to back and not much time to cool off before getting in line.
Deodorant, gum and bandaids are a few things that you might not have thought about. Plus, you can add some Advil or other medicine just so you are feeling your best!
Having a journal and pen is crucial! You don't want to forget the conversations you had after leaving each house. Plus, it is always fun to go back and read your initial thoughts about each house and the girls you talked to.
Putting a keychain on your bag is so helpful. Everyone's bags look the same, so having something on your bag to differentiate it from the others makes it easy to grab your bag and go.

Some Words of Wisdom to Keep in Mind:
Don't feel overwhelmed by everything you see here. It will be such a fun week and your Gamma Chi can answer every question you might have!
A few things to remember:
Don't go into rush week with a specific standard in mind. Always be open to all of the houses you go to. You may love a house you don't know much about!
Be yourself in every conversation! The members want to get to know you for you! Relax! I know rush week might feel really important to you and it is a big week! But don't put too much pressure on yourself.
Talking to your roommates or friends is fun, but don't let their opinions sway your thoughts about a certain house.
Write everything down between parties! When it comes time to make decisions at the end of each round, it’s so helpful to look back at your notes!
We are super excited to meet you! If you haven't registered for recruitment yet, there is still time! You can go to the University of Arkansas Greek Life page to register for recruitment today!
